Isabelle (Isie) Bao was born and raised in New Jersey to a family of first generation immigrants from Eastern China. Her parents, grand parents and relatives in the family have engaged in various form of art as hobbies or professions - photography, calligraphy, painting, flute, clarinet, etc., which provided Isie with an early exposure to the world of art since she was very young. Piano helps her to appreciate the language of music; while dancing, especially Chinese ethnic and classical dances, connect her to the roots of Chinese culture and its ethnic diversity. Drawing serves as a means of self-expression and source of creativity. In addition to these serious hobbies that she practices almost daily, Isie is also an avid reader of all kinds, a diligent helper in her dad’s basement photo studio, a passionate world traveler, and a recent beginner on the squash court.
